When working with charcoal, graphite or pastel, correcting a drawing does not always mean removing a mark completely. Often, the aim is to soften a shadow, clean a small area or introduce a controlled highlight. The Faber-Castell Kneadable Art Eraser lets you adjust how much material is lifted without the firm abrasion of a traditional block eraser.
Its soft composition can be shaped easily between the fingers. Form it into a narrow point for small details, strands of hair, reflections and lines of light, or flatten it into a broader surface to lift pigment gently from a larger area.
Rather than rubbing aggressively against the paper, the eraser works by absorbing part of the graphite, charcoal or pastel. Gentle dabbing gradually lightens shaded areas, opens tonal passages and creates more controlled transitions.
It is especially useful in portrait drawing for highlights in eyes, hair and skin, but also works beautifully in still life, landscapes and tonal studies. Use it to clean small imperfections around outlines or remove construction lines from pencil drawings.
As the surface collects pigment, knead the eraser again to draw the used area into the centre and reveal a cleaner section. The included plastic storage box protects it from dust, fibres and debris inside a pencil case or art bag.
The package contains one eraser in one of three colors — Turquoise, Blackberry or Blue. The color is selected at random according to availability.
