Kraft-Tex: the material that will change the way you create!

If you love crafting, sewing, or scrapbooking, then it's time to discover Kraft-Tex — the "paper-fabric" that will become your new favorite material!

What is Kraft-Tex;

Kraft-Tex is an innovative material that combines the properties of paper with those of fabric and leather! It’s as durable as leather, has the soft feel of fabric, but is actually paper that can be cut, sewn, glued, painted, and even washed — yes, even in the washing machine!

You can emboss, paint, hand or machine sew it, die-cut it... with this material, you can truly bring any idea to life! It’s perfect for projects that require durability, such as functional items (bags, wallets, etc.), book covers, 3D crafts, mixed media, home décor, costume making, cosplay making, and more.

Use it wherever you need high-strength, durable vegan leather, and in all your eco-friendly projects, as it contains no animal or plant-based elements.

And if you want to paint it, it dyes beautifully with RIT dyes.

At ScrapsNPieces, you will find it in many wonderful colors, allowing you to customize it to your own style.

Where can I use Kraft-Tex?

The possibilities are truly endless! Here are some ideas:

  • Covers for handmade notebooks & journals
  • Bags & small wallets
  • Decorative elements for all your scrapbooking projects
  • Book covers
  • Cases for glasses and mobile phones
  • Makeup bags
  • Storage and organization baskets, and much more...

I would say one of the most practical items is a small pouch/wallet. What do you think? Let’s walk through the process step by step to see how easy it is to make;

Materials needed:

  • A Kraft-Tex sheet about 7" x 9.8" (20 x 25 cm)
  • Scissors or a craft knife
  • A button (either a snap button or a magnetic one)
  • Glue or needle and thread (for a more secure finish)
  • Ruler and pencil

Instructions:

1. Draw & Cut the Pattern
Draw a rectangular of 7" x 9.8" (20 x 25 cm). If you want to make a "folder" style pouch, cut one of the corners into a triangle for the flap.

2. Soften the Kraft-Tex Paper (optional)
For a leather-like texture, you can lightly dampen it and crumple it gently with your hands. Let it dry completely.

3. Fold
Fold the bottom part upward, leaving about 3" 3" (7 - 8 cm) for the flap/closure. It’s starting to take the shape of a small pouch.

4. Secure the Sides
Use strong craft glue or sew the two side edges together. If you have a sewing machine, that’s even better!

5. Add a Closure
Attach a snap button or magnetic fastener to close the bag. You can also use velcro for easier opening and closing.

6. Decorate! (optional)
Paint, stamp, or embroidery your name, a quote, or a pattern onto the Kraft-Tex for a personal touch.

And you're done!
