March Challenge & AJ Spread by Julia Deligiannidou-Scraps n Pieces

Happy March to you all lovely crafters and followers of Scraps N Pieces.

This is the first month of Spring. Equinox is on March 20^th and that’s officially the first day of Spring. So, I’m pretty sure that we still have some chilly days ahead. However, it’s most certain that we’re in a lighter mood already and our eyes crave for some bright and cheerful colors.

This month’s challenge will definitely inspire many of you. This is a great opportunity to make something with all those clothes tags you’ve been stashing for so long. So, there it is,

TAGS & NUMBERS

For March, our super talented designer Julia Deligiannidou has prepared the most amazing art journal spread! I’m sure you’re going to get loads of inspiration by her creation!

This month’s mood board really excited me. It was a great chance to use many of the clothes tags I’ve been keeping for a long time and to refresh Donna Downey’s online courses, where she uses tags and numbers ! That was my inspiration for this art journal spread.

I put some string and twine on my tags and I glued them, together with some numbers stickers, on my journal pages.

On some tags I created the numbers with a stencil and texture paste.

I applied different texture pastes on the background and let them dry. I covered everything with a coat of white gesso and then I used DecoArt acrylic paints to color everything.

I used baby wipes and water, to wipe off some of the paint and create a distressed look.

I also used watercolors for the shadings and at the end I did some stamping with number stamps.
