Package colour reflects approximate results when dyeing white or off white 100% cotton.
Double the amount of dye for bright or dark colours.
One package dyes 2lb dry weight or about 6 yards medium weight fabric.
Not recommended for 100% polyester, acrylic, acetate, fibreglass or metallic fibers, or fabrics with special finishes, rubber backing, washable only in cold water or labelled Dry Clean Only.
Use Rit Colour Remover to lighten the original fabric colour as much as possible before dyeing to a lighter or different colour
Add 1 cup salt to dyebath for cotton, rayon, ramie, linen or blends. Add 1 cup vinegar to dyebath for nylon, silk and wool.
Please remember, if using this colour dye on an already pre-coloured fabric, the resultant colour will be a mix of those colours. (ie using blue dye on red fabric will NOT result in blue fabric). Please ALWAYS use a colour remover on pre coloured fabrics first.
PLEASE NOTE:- Rit Dyes are in the process of putting a seal under the lids of their dyes. Some bottles may have these seals in place, whilst others may not. Until all wholesalers, retailers and the Rit warehouses have sold the bottles without seals, some may be supplied without the seal, others may have the seal (newly processed bottles).
Also PLEASE NOTE:- Rit dye bottles use the same 250ml sized bottle for all the synthetic and standard dyes. The synthetic dyes have a minimum of 207ml per bottle, the standard dyes a minimum of 236ml. Some bottles will have slightly more than these minimums, and therefore each bottle liquid level may be slightly different, this is quite normal.
Please see www.ritdye.com for hints, tips and usage information and how to dye, they have an extensive section for this purpose.
