DecoArt Americana Acrylics are artists' favorites worldwide for their rich pigmentation, velvety texture, and durability over time. These paints spread easily, produce an even coverage, and deliver a professional finish, whether you're working on wood, metal, canvas, fabric (with the appropriate medium), or ceramics.
With 43 shades available at SnP — from warm earth tones to bright pinks, coral, and blues — Americana Acrylics offer endless possibilities. They are ideal for projects that combine vintage character with modern techniques, allowing for layering, glazing, and blending with exceptional ease.
What makes them special is their dense, matte finish, which spreads smoothly with a brush or sponge without cracking or yellowing over time. They dry relatively quickly — fast enough to work in layers without long waits — and they work beautifully with mediums like glaze, fabric medium, or crackle, allowing for more complex effects.
This week, we’re excited to share three ideas that showcase the different sides of DecoArt Americana Acrylics. From a vintage wooden decorative piece that evokes autumn nostalgia, to a modern canvas with stencil art, and a refreshing, spring-inspired serving tray — each project demonstrates how the same colors can be transformed through technique, mood, and imagination.
So, what do you say? Shall we get started?

Vintage Thermos / Wood Slice Fall Decor (by RobbRestyle)
Materials neede:
Wood slices
Americana Acrylics
Pencil
Brush for fine details/ medium
Protective Varnish (matte or satin)
Basic steps:
Choose a few wood slices of different sizes.
Before sketching your design, if you like, paint the base of your wood with a color — for example, Light Mocha — and let it dry a bit.
Next, softly sketch your design with a pencil. Here, Robbs have replicated their favorite vintage thermos.
Use your favorite shades and proceed with coloring. I’m thinking of trying to draw and paint my favorite cups!
Once dry, carefully erase any remaining pencil marks.
Seal it with a protective varnish.
Optional: add a way to hang it (e.g., Velcro or string) to hang on the wall — perfect for a fall/vintage-inspired decor.
Canvas Stencil Art (by Sustain My Craft Habit)
Materials needed:
Canvas (small size, i.e. 20×20 cm)
Stencil
Americana Acrylics
Stencil brush or sponge
Brush
Optional metallic paste
Basic steps:
Paint the entire canvas with a neutral/background base color (e.g., Neutral Grey or Light Mocha).
Secure the stencil in the desired position.
Using your stencil brush, dab the pattern onto the canvas, applying one or more shades (e.g., Coral Cloud for a flower, Calypso / Provence Sky for leaves / background elements, Dioxazine / Poetic Plum or Black Plum for details / shades). Paint the entire canvas with a neutral/background color (e.g., Neutral Grey or Light Mocha).
Secure the stencil in the desired position.
Using your stencil brush, dab the pattern onto the canvas with one or more shades.
Alternatively, you can layer the stencil: start with a large pattern in one color, then add details with another.
Once it’s completely dry, fix any imperfections with a fine brush.
Secure with a varnish (matte or satin).
Variation suggestion: add a thin outline or highlight certain parts with metallic paste (such as in the center of the flower or on the leaves).
