Hello dear friends and followers of Scraps N pieces-The Blog.
Here in Greece, February has started quite rainy and windy. I’ve seen on IG and FB that in other places also, winter is still there, cold and snowy.I know that many of you wish for this moody weather to go away and for spring to come at last with an air of rebirth.
That being said, that’s exactly the essence of our challenge this month. We bring out old objects that we’ve hidden away ages ago, and revive them, make them little treasures that will shine again.
Today, our lovely Mary Tzalla is altering an old object that will surely take you back to your childhood.Enjoy!

For my creation, I used an old coin bank, that was a very popular item when we were kids and was distributed by the National Post Office. Every kid would get one as a gift from an aunt or uncle or from granpa and granma. I had hidden it away for many years and I’m so happy that I brought it out and altered it.
First, I apllied a layer of black gesso all over the coin bank and the embellishments.
Then I glued all my decorative elements and created a cluster, diagonally from the front side to the back.
I applied white crackle paste in several spots which I, then, painted with black gesso. I completed my creation by gluing art stones that I had covered with black gesso and 3D Gloss Gel.
When everything was dry, I colored the whole object with Finnabair Acrylic Paints and accented some details with Finnabair waxes.
Thank you so much dear Mary for this amazing upcycling and great inspiration! What are you waiting for? Bring out those piggy banks you've been hiding for ages and transform them to a piece of art!
