Vintage Easter Box

With Easter just around the corner, it’s time to start crafting! After all, gifts for godchildren are always better when they come with something handmade!

I wanted to create a beautiful box for chocolate eggs for my godchild, but since she’s grown up now, I wanted it to be less pink and "cute" than the ones I used to make for her. So, I chose this new die with the Tim Holtz Vintage Easter Bunny and Jennifer Ogborn’s egg-shaped box die.

Usually, the dies for creating boxes are quite small, and I don’t prefer them since they rarely fit what I want to include. However, this one is the perfect size for an entire bag of chocolate eggs!

I cut the box using a color combination from this paper set, which is ideal for die cutting because it cuts easily without fraying, and all the colors complement each other beautifully. Before assembling it, I inked all the pieces with my favorite Vintage Photo.

In the meantime, I cut the bunny from kraft cardstock and filled it with Sizzix Expanding Paste. I was thinking of applying white acrylic paint lightly to create a fur effect, but this paste puffs up and gives a more vintage look!

Both sets, have many dies, so I cut the banner and the paper flowers using Jennifer Ogborn set and I used the font found in Tim Holtz thinlits to write the word "Easter". I really love this tall-slim font and would consider getting the die just for it, even if I didn’t like those cute, crazy bunnies! However, the truth is that I absolutely adore these bunnies and already envision them in other projects!

I hope you enjoyed my project and that it inspired you to create your own handmade little gifts for your godchildren!

Happy crafting!
