A pigment is a material that changes the color of reflected or transmitted light as the result of wavelength-selective absorption. This physical process differs from fluorescence, phosphorescence, and other forms of luminescence, in which a material emits light.
Procion MX dyes are specialized fiber reactive fabric dyes designed to deliver permanent and exceptionally vibrant color on natural fibers. Thanks to their chemical composition, they react directly with the fiber and form strong covalent bonds, ensuring long-lasting results without the need for heat, boiling, or ironing. They are activated in cold water at room temperature, making them safe even for delicate fabrics and helping to prevent shrinkage or distortion.
Procion MX dyes are highly durable, wash-fast, and easy to use, making them suitable for a wide range of natural and cellulosic materials such as cotton, linen, rayon/viscose, jute, hemp, ramie, sisal, canvas and paper. Also suitable for protein fibers (silk, wool) when using an acidic medium. Each package contains enough dye to color more than 0.45 kg (1 lb) of dry fabric, delivering rich and even results. For proper color fixation, the use of soda ash is required, as it activates the chemical reaction between the dye and the fiber, ensuring the color bonds permanently to the material.
🔥 Ideal for shibori, batik, ice dyeing, printing, screen printing, immersion dyeing, fabric painting, gradation & ombre techniques, sprinkle dyeing — any process that requires clean, stable and vibrant color. No surprise they are a favorite among macramé artists and textile designers.
