Using our Distress Crayons...

Πως χρησιμοποιούμε τα Distress Crayons...

What are the Distress Crayons? The brand new "pastels" of Ranger with water-reactive pigments, thus producing different and varied results.

They are designed to achieve intense color effects on porous surfaces and are ideal for mixed media crafts such as backgrounds, watercolor effects, and more.

They have strong pigments so as to be water-reactive and retain the vibrancy of their colors as well!

They are also designed not to be activated with water once set, like the rest of the products in the distress range, which makes them ideal for use with distress inks, stains and mists, to create layers.

Let's see now how you can use them:

You can start with the crayon and then blend either with a wet finger or with a brush and water. In the first case you will create a stain effect while in the second a watercolor effect.

They are also designed not to be activated with water once set, unlike the other products of the Distress line. This fact makes them ideal for use with distress inks, stains and mists and perfect for creating layers.

Let's see now how you can use them:

You can start with the crayon and then blend either with a wet finger or with a brush and water. The first case creates a stain effect while the second produces a watercolor effect.

Another technique is to spray water directly on the surface and then color it with many different crayons. The colors will blend slightly, creating a bright background.

You can also use a heat gun to speed up the drying process.

These crayons will also allow you to create textures using pastes and your stencils

And last but not least, “work” your Distress crayons with baby wipes! Use your stencils or not and keep dabbing on the points you want to emphasize!

The distress crayons are ideal for your mixed media crafts since their creamy texture allows you to “work” with them very easily. But don't forget that although they are activated with water, once they dry they become permanent!

You can also watch Tim Holtz's demo where he presents their uses in his own amazing way! I bet that, once you try them, provided that there are not already part of your artistic tools (!), you'll be addicted!

Until then,

Artistic kisses
